Joe Biden’s private office held classified VP documents

According to the White House, the US Department of Justice is currently reviewing classified VP documents, which were discovered in Vice President Joe Biden’s private office at a think tank.

In November, Mr. Biden’s legal team found about ten of the files in a locked closet at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, DC, so his lawyer has said.

It has been delivered to the National Archives.

President Trump, Mr. Biden’s predecessor, is under investigation for allegedly relocating top-secret documents to his Florida estate.

CBS News reports that US Attorney General Merrick Garland has been asked to review classified documents. That was discovered at the Penn Biden Center.

The vice president’s attorney said they are relevant to Mr. Joe Biden’s private office time. The documents’ significance, level of classification, and presence there remain unknown.

According to CBS News’s source familiar with the situation, the documents in question did not reveal any nuclear secrets. And were found in a folder within a box containing other unclassified documents.

Special counsel to President Biden Richard Sauber told CBS on Monday that the files were found by Joe Biden’s attorneys. While clearing out the office space shortly before the midterm elections.

From 2017 to 2020, Mr. Biden worked at a think tank that was less than a mile from the White House.

Mr. Sauber said, “Since that discovery, the president’s personal attorneys have cooperated with the [National] Archives and the Department of Justice in a process to ensure that any records from the Obama-Biden Administration are appropriately in possession of the Archives.”

Despite the fact that the discovery was made just before the midterm elections. His statement offered no explanation for the two-month delay in its public announcement.

The new Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Congressman James Comer, said on Monday that the Justice Department’s neutrality was called into question by the way the documents related to former Vice President Joe Biden were handled.

He said to the press, “This is further concern that there is a two-tier justice system within the DoJ [justice department] with how they treat Republicans versus Democrats, certainly how they treat the former president versus the current president.”

According to CBS News, US Attorney John Lausch Jr. in Chicago has been asked to review the classified VP documents by the Department of Justice.

In an interview with CNN, former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger speculated that the investigation would boil down to discovering who on the former vice president’s team handled the documents and whether it was intentional or accidental that they remained there.

There was no immediate response from the Penn Biden Center or the National Archives.
